Maxim Gorky

Gorky was one of the outstanding representatives of socialist realism in literature. He can be considered to be the founder of Soviet literature. The tone of his books and plays are set by his deep humanism and trust in the possibility of social conditions that are worthy to humans. His works, such as Mother, My Childhood, The Life of Kim Samgin have been translated to many languages.

While maintaining contacts with the Soviet Union, he lived in abroad between 1921 and 1931. He returned to the Soviet Union in 1931.
